St Jean and La Rochelle
Sorry the blog has been a bit quiet the last few days - Wendy and I have had 19 years to catch up on and we've been working hard at it! Our visit to St Jean has been so lovely. After a big sleep in and slowish start on Tuesday, the kids thought they'd hit the jackpot when Loic and Wendy gave them hot chocolates and brioche for breakfast. Tink was happy too as she found a coiffure where she had her hair washed and blow dried (Damian has amused the kids endlessly by telling them she has to have her hair washed as her arms don't reach her hair!). Our personal tour guides led us to the lovely La Rochelle on the coast - Leah took the day off school to join in the fun - and we wandered around the beautiful "old port" section of the town. We had a fabulous lunch - Damian was worried his meal wouldn't have enough bulk in it and was disappointed he couldn't get chips until his mound of seafood arrived (see photo). It has been so lovely to have french speaking locals with us who can explain things, read the menus, sort out sim cards that don't work, and point out places of interest we would have otherwise missed. Such a pretty place and great company!
