Wednesday was the local market day in Creon- a tiny little village built around a medieval church.   The markets are held in the square around the church and while it's mostly food, they had some stalls of clothing (not good) and other strange things. The food was fantastic - an amazing array of items from normal fruit and veges, to live chickens and rabbits and the highlight for the kids - fresh horse-meat prepared in more ways than you could think of! There were also skinned and plucked animals like rabbit, chicken, pigeon, which were fairly scary as they leave the heads on so you can see where it came from.  On a happier note, the kids are so excited because they found a stall that sells fire crackers - the small sort we had as kids on Guy Fawke's night.  We've bought a few different sorts - it rained on Wednesday night so we're all set to try them out tonight.  Finbarr decided he was going to buy a soccerball at the markets and to our surprise he found one.  Joseph, Seamus, Liam and some of the older children also bought BB guns with little pellets - which they're thrilled about and which we think will take out an eye if they last longer than hour!
After the morning at the markets we drove into Bordeaux to have a look at the town - which was really pretty.  It has one of the longest shopping strips in Europe so we got our bearings so we can come back properly on Saturday! Emily found the Apple store so introduced herself and showed her business card, and got a tour around the store. The man she met told everyone, "I'd like to presentation to you, Emily from Australie". Her store is keen for her to make connections with overseas stores, so she's off to a good start. She also managed to do some damage in Zara, making the first purchases of the trip.
